There are a wide variety of boating options available to the Kauai visitor. You may wish to click here first to look at a map of boat departure points. Click on any photo on the left or right for a larger view. Na Pali Coast / Snorkel / Whale Watching ToursMost boat cruises to the Na Pali coast leave from the southwest harbor of Port Allen. However, a few trips depart from Hanalei in the north. There are too many companies to list individually, so we've given brief descriptions of what most offer. A few trips are unique and we've listed these below. Please note that all boat cruises are subject to ocean and weather conditions permitting. Times and prices are subject to change with the seasons. Please email or call for availability, times, and prices. Hanalei to Na Pali At this time there are only a few boats leaving to the Na Pali Coast from the north shore. You can do a 4 hour cruise on a 32ft. power catamaran leaving from Hanalei Bay to the Na Pali Coast and back. This boat can hold up to 16 passengers. It goes twice day, check in times change with the season. Both tours stop to snorkel and have lunch. They will tell you all about the history, legends, and lore of the Na Pali Coast. You can check out the sea caves, and look for dolphins and sea turtles. There is another company that also leaves from Hanalei Bay to the Na Pali Coast. They offer a 3-1/2 hour cruise twice a day. Check in times change with the season. This 28ft power catamaran can hold up to 13 passengers. It is small and can tuck into all the nooks and crannies along the coastline. They provide a nice lunch, and a stop to swim/snorkel. Hanalei North Shore Cruise
There is one company that is doing an outrigger
sailing canoe ride on the north shore!! You will enjoy the
beauty of Hanalei Bay in the ancient Hawaiian mode of transportation.
What could be more inspiring than taking in Hawaii's natural beauty.
Ancient mountains...carved and contoured by waterfalls that have
transcended the ages... illusive rainbows that embrace each valley and
pristine turquoise and azure seas that kiss miles and miles of white
sandy beaches. This outrigger canoe only holds 6 passengers, so it
is a very private and intimate type of cruise. No crowds here.
This is true Hawaiian sailing, no motoring. The crew are two of
Kauai's finest watermen, both born and raised on Kauai.
They offer a 3 hour sail and snorkel tour.
It leaves from the beach in Hanalei Bay for blue water sailing fun, and
then anchoring off an outer reef for snorkeling. This includes
lunch. Check in time is 8:30 am.
There is a 2 hour sail, that checks in at 1:30 pm for
pure sailing. It includes snacks and soft beverages.
And then there is the 2 hour Romantic Sunset Sail.
This is a must for honeymooners or long time sweethearts that want a
romantic sail to share together. It checks in at 5:00 pm.
It includes snacks and soft beverages.
Kikaiola Harbor to Na Pali Kikaiola is on Kauai's west coast and is the closest harbor to the Na Pali Coast from this side of the island. 4 hour cruise on a 48 ft power catamaran with lunch and snorkeling, and a 2 1/2 hour sunset cruise. 5 hour Zodiac raft adventure. It will land you on a beach on the Na Pali Coast, and take you for a hike to the site of an ancient Hawaiian village. You will have a picnic lunch on the beach and then go snorkeling. Leaves twice daily. Port Allen to Na Pali 7 hour cruise to the Forbidden Island of Niihau and the Na Pali Coast, on a comfortable 61 foot power catamaran. You will enjoy a large buffet breakfast and lunch. Complementary beer and wine are served with lunch. You will cross the small channel from Kauai to Niihau, which is a privately owned island! You can't land there, but you'll anchor off shore and snorkel nearby. You will also get to visit Lehua, an even smaller island, before heading off to the Na Pali Coast. Coffee is served in the morning and soft drinks and water are available throughout the day. This same boat offers a 3 1/2 hour sunset cruise to the Na Pali Coast every evening. Champagne, beer, wine, and heavy Pupus are served, along with soft drinks. There is no snorkeling stop on this trip. 5 hour cruise on a 42 ft. or 32 ft. Jet powered catamaran. Just like a jet ski! Only much bigger! We call these the Veggie Vessels, because they're powered on recycled biodegradable vegetable oil! It's a Na Pali Eco tour! They stop for snorkeling, and serve a tasty deli lunch. And look for dolphins and sea turtles as you cruise along the coast. They depart twice daily in the summer, and during the winter months will do a 3 to 4 hour sightseeing tour for the afternoon trip. No snorkeling on that one. Power sailing catamarans too! You can take a 6 hour motor/sail on a 48ft. sailing catamaran from Port Allen. It's run by the same company which offers the power catamaran to Niihau. So you'll be served the same great buffet breakfast and lunch. Also included are beer, wine, and soft drinks. They stop to snorkel and anchor for about an hour.
