Kauai Helicopter Adventures

Kauai is the oldest in the main chain of the Hawaiian Islands and it's the lushest, and the greenest of all the islands.  The central part of the island is the wettest spot in the world, so there are an incredible number of  waterfalls within the interior.  Most of the island, including the center, is inaccessible except by helicopter.  So a helicopter ride is one of the best ways to view the spectacular scenery of Kauai!

Most flights leave from the Lihue airport but one operator leaves from the north shore in Princeville, and 2 operators leave from the southwest shore.  There are as many helicopter companies as boat companies, so we won’t go into all of them. Most have trips which visit the Waialeale crater (the wettest spot in the world), the Na Pali Coast, Waimea Canyon, the Hanalei mountains and Hanalei Valley.  Below are a few of the outstanding trips available to the Kauai visitor.

Most operators are based at the Lihue airport and have 6 passenger helicopters. One company has invested in the Bose sound system, and has enlarged the windows for the best viewing no matter where you sit.  The back windows bubble out so you can lean out and see even better! They also have a 2 way intercom so you can ask questions. This company has a perfect safety record, they play incredible music, give a wonderful narrative about what your seeing, a bit of history, and best of all, know when not to say anything. They are very professional and do a great job!   They offer a 1 hour flight.

Leaving from the west side is a 4 passenger helicopter, so everyone gets a window seat!!  And they fly with NO DOORS!!  It's great!  They offer 3 tours, a 30 minute, 1 hour, and a 2 hour flight.  Everyone who does the 30 minute wishes they did the hour.  The hour covers all the highlights listed above.  And the 2 hour flight, is the full hour around the island, then the second hour, you land at a waterfall that is inaccessible except by helicopter.  You can swim in the pool at the waterfall, bring a bottle of champagne if you want!!!  No other company has a permit to land like they do.

Leaving from the north shore in Princeville, there is only one option.  They have a 6 passenger helicopter, and offer a 30 minute, 45 minute, or 1 hour flights.  You start out in Hanalei Valley, which is one of the most beautiful parts of the island.  The tour will be something you will remember all your life!

Most companies offer a 1 hour flight, and some offer 45 minute or 90 minute tours as well.  A few will even give you a free video of the highlights.  Flights are daily, from around 8:00am to 5:00pm.
